Job Description:


To ensure efficient operation, availability, and performance of computer resources to support the needs of the Company.



  1. Coordinates and maintains resources to ensure retail stores have functional systems and employees are trained to use them effectively.
  2. Provides technical support and completes project tasks for all server and workstation operating systems, network systems, software & hardware implementations, and projects.
  3. Travels for new retail store setups and store remodels. Responsible for the installation and configuration of new software and hardware, including the server network, register lanes, floor devices and network firewalls.
  4. Identifies and troubleshoots requests in a timely manner, seeks assistance from vendors or providers for requests that cannot be resolved, and maintains appropriate communication to other associates, users and/or management until the problem is resolved.
  5. Documents all technical support tickets in order to provide adequate detail to maintain an efficient escalation process as well as building an effective knowledge base in the Community Manager Support System.
  6. Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  7. Sets up and/or reconfigures retail systems as needed to maintain defined standards. Utilizes imaging software when appropriate.
  8. Stays current on POS software interface and known system issues pertaining to operating system or software conflicts.
  9. Stays current with capabilities of current desktop operating systems.
  10. Provide after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies as well occasional weekend support and on a rotating on-call basis.   
  11. Keeps manager informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinates and communicates plans and activities with others, as appropriate to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
  12. Assist with hardware, firewall, telecom and software vendor evaluation, recommendation and negotiations
  13. Mentor / cross train team members on existing and new technologies to support the business and their individual development.
  14. Performs related work as apparent or assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • At least 1 year of related IT experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Active Directory, SCCM, VMware products, Intune and MS D365 POS
  • The ability to travel for new store setups is required.
  • Working technical knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Windows Operating System experience required.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work responsibly, diligently and take initiative to complete necessary tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of Company personnel and others.
  • Availability and willingness to work irregular hours.
  • Demonstrates Northern Tool + Equipment’s 12 Core Competencies.
