Must-Have: Strong embedding and microtomy skills in a high-paced
lab. Description: Position and specialty: Histology Tech. Shift:
8:30 PM to 5:00 AM, Sunday through Thursday. Years of experience
required: 2. First-timers are not accepted. No weekend
requirements. National certifications required: ASCP-HT. BLS
certification is not required. On-call requirements: No. Will
clinician float within scope to meet facility needs: No. Floating
required to sister facilities: No. Open to accommodating block
schedule: Yes. Locals are not accepted. Pending State License is
accepted. There are no restrictions on requested time off, but the
client may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty for any assigned
candidate. On-call hours do not count towards guaranteed minimum
hours. General skills experience required: Tissue Processing.
Histology Embedding/Microtomy Experience required: Automated/Manual
Microtome, cuts tissue sections using microtome and cryostat,
cutting blocks, embedding GI specimens, embedding large specimens,
embedding molds, embedding small and large specimens, embedding
skin techniques, histology cassettes, microtomy of fatty tissue,
microtomy of hard tissue, paraffin wax sections, precision
microtomy. Histology - Staining Experience required: Hematoxylin
and Eosin (H&E) stain, prepares slides for staining. Epic
experience preferred. Type of facility: Short-term acute care.
Total staffed beds: 672. Charting: Excellian/Epic. Patient
diagnoses volume: average 1800 blocks per day. Primarily
backfilling for open positions to cover routine embedding and
microtomy of biopsies and large specimens. Requirements Required
