Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Excellent communication

Skills in phlebotomy and IV starts - EKG and telemetry monitoring -
Critical thinking and time management skills - Ability to titrate
drips Description: The unit has a total of 32 beds with a daily
census of 17.5. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1 for
medical-surgical patients. For intermediate care, the ratio is 1:2
to 1:4. RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips. The
unit handles common diagnoses such as COPD, pneumonia, AFib RVR,
DKA, and CIWA. Nurses will also perform cardioversions and work
with pressors, insulin, anticoagulants, epinephrine,
norepinephrine, vasopressin, and angiotensin-II. The unit has two
scheduled aides each shift. Respiratory therapy coverage is
available 22 hours a day, seven days a week. Shifts run from 5pm to
5:30am or 5:00am to 5:30pm with a 30-minute meal break. Block
scheduling or self-scheduling is not available for agency nurses.
There is a flexible weekend and holiday requirement. In the case of
low census, nurses may be placed on low needs. Floating to the
emergency department may occur to assist during code or trauma
situations. Scrubs must be navy blue, and hoodies are not
permitted. The orientation process will ensure readiness for the
