The primary goal of this position is to care for student health injuries and/or illnesses in an expedient and safe manner. The licensed nurse (RN or LPN) works with parents, students, school staff, buidling administration and licensed school nurses (LSN) for the control and prevention of disease and for the development of optimum health of each student. The purpose of this position is to collaboratively support our students, families, and staff so they can enhance the educational process by maximizing their health and well-being, modifying or removing health-related barriers to learning, and promoting an optimal level of wellness. ISD 191 is a suburban Minneapolis system of 8,500 students comprised of the communities of Burnsville, Eagan, and Savage. Essential Job Functions License / Education Requirements: Licensed as a Registered Nurse or LIcenses Practical Nurse (RN or LPN) by the MN Board of nursing Job Responsibilities: 1. Provides appropriate emergency care of illness or injury to students and staff. 2. Assists in the control of communicable diseases according to procedures. 3. Administers oral, inhaled, and topical medications. Consults with team regarding dosage, schedule for administration, side effects, expected effects, and other pertinent data regarding medication. Keeps accurate records of medications brought to the Health Office and records each administration of medication on the individual Student Medication Record. 4. Maintains confidentiality of information learned regarding students and their families. 5. Notifies building Principal of serious incidents, significant health problems, referrals, and possible child abuse. 6. Exhibits knowledge of job limitations and accepts supervision. 7.
