We are a growing company with plans to expand into new markets and looking to build our team with great leaders who are focused on developing and supporting their team to success.PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:To provide leadership within the department and throughout the organization to support business analytics needs of the company. Help create a data driven culture at Northern Tool. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:1.Oversees, provides direction and leads employees, committees and teams to ensure they understand and execute the strategic direction of the data & analytics organization.2.Leads the evaluation and identification of industry developments, technical and strategic trends, and software options.3.Work directly with the product owners as an advisor, continuously seeking ways to improve and evolve the analytics function as a whole.4.Lead a team of data analysts and act as an evangelist for analytics, helping to educate company leadership about how to leverage analytics to solve problems. Advocate for the development of analytics skills across the company.5.Partner with Data Engineering and Visualization manager to ensure solutions are correct, on time and meet the needs of the business by managing or providing leadership to schedule and assign work.6.Establish and facilitate Steering Committees / Governance Meetings with senior business leaders from each business domain focused on analytics roadmap, maturity curve, prioritization, adoption rates and inflight work.7.Provides the leadership to ensure data and insights provided by the department are available to the business at required time and meet expected performance goals.8.Helps in the development and updates of departmental policies and procedures to ensure accurate controls, effective operating methods, to ensure timely and user friendly information is communicated so effective business decisions are made and necessary action takes place.9.Helps with departmental budgeting process and manages within budget parameters to ensure financial benchmarks are met and proactive course correction is taken when necessary.10.Helps coordinate and lead departmental plans, actions and decisions with other departments. Participates in and/or leads cross-functional and interdepartmental committees/teams to ensure quality results, an aligned focus and support for each other, and the strategic goals of organization.11.Establishes and sustains interactive relationships with external vendors and contacts to result in favorable networks to support the current and future goals of the organization. Benchmarks practices/results against competition and to maximize organizational effectiveness.12.Supervises and manages employees as it relates to all products or related work, establishes performance requirements, clarifies responsibilities of those supervised, conducts performance appraisals and plans for individual employee development.13.Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinates and communicates plans and activities with others, as appropriate to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.14.Performs related work as apparent or assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, business administration, or a related field.
  • At least 12 years of successful performance as a Data & Analytics leader in varying levels of management.
  • Ability to work with a variety of colleagues, including Product Owners, Architects and the Engineering community, in a global organization to ensure the best solutions are delivered.
  • Must have experience in managing teams in a product operating model and have a demonstrative understanding of Agile and DevOps tools and methodologies.
  • Hands on knowledge of Database, Data Engineering, Visualization and Analytics tools.
  • Demonstrative Knowledge of operating data platforms in Cloud using Cloud native services and automation.
  • Experience in building a new team and lead, mentor, supervise and coordinate work.
  • Must have strong consultative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of guiding an organization from descriptive to prescriptive analytics in a Retail Industry.
  • Must possess excellent communication and relationship building skills to represent team and complex topics to Executive team.
  • Help develop Company policies and procedures as they relate to usage of data in Retail Industry.
