We are currently seeking an HR Manager/Total Rewards Manager to oversee and provide developmental and administrative analytical support to company-wide total rewards programs, including compensation, benefits and learning and development. This person will manage and lead the compensation, benefits, and learning and development staff.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:



  • Manages human resource efforts to result in the alignment of human resources functions and personnel with Northern's strategy. Implements long-range total rewards goals and strategies consistent with business direction and strategy. Operates within human resources' annual budget. Ensures all human resource efforts are directed towards achievement of corporate goals and employee satisfaction.
  • Manages and participates in strategy direction for total rewards. Consults closely with the company's benefits broker in order to design benefit plans that align with the company's strategy and employee needs.
  • Uses data received from the benefit broker, market data, and employee engagement data to design plans which support attracting and retaining the company's best employees while meeting the company's budget requirements.
  • Reviews benefits administration process; identifies gaps and implements process efficiencies. Manages the company 401 (k) plan and is a member of the company's investment committee. Evaluates and recommends the 401 (k) plan regularly and recommends plan changes when needed.
  • Manages and participates in strategy direction for compensation programs including salary management, merit increases, market adjustments, promotion increases, annual incentive plan, commissions and other location specific bonus programs for the Company.
  • Sets Learning and Development strategy for the Company with the department leaders based on Company needs.
  • Oversees the selection, design, and development of training and non-training interventions using performance improvement strategies.
  • Oversees leadership and other training programs for the entire organization; ensures these programs are implemented and continue to be effective.
  • Applies knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theory to the creation, design and implementation of training tools, materials and programs that are performance and outcome based.
  • Manages and maintains human resources policies and procedures to ensure company assets are protected, people resource efforts are maximized and Northern's mission and objectives are promoted.
  • Ensures Company compliance with existing legal employment requirements (EEO/AAP, OSHA, FLSA, wage hour, ADA, HIPPA) both individually and through communication and training of department and location managers. Additionally, oversees all related audits such as those required for the 401 (k) plan and ensures that all legal notifications are provided to employees.
  • Supervises and manages employees as it relates to all projects or related work, establishes performance requirements, clarifies responsibilities of those supervised, conducts performance appraisals and plans for individual employee development.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    --- Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science or related area.

    --- At least 5 years of related job experience, specifically within the Compensation, Benefits and Learning area.

    --- At least 3 years of related supervisory experience.

    --- Demonstrated ability to lead in order to influence change at all levels of the organization.

    --- Excellent presentation skills.

    --- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple and varied projects.

    --- Solid understanding of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) systems as well as experience working with benefits and learning management systems.

    --- Strong administrative and organizational skills.

    --- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all employee levels.

    --- Demonstrated ability to seek out and learn new instructional design methods, design tools and industry trends.

    --- Ability to work well with numbers and details.

    --- Genuine interest in people-oriented work, must display a positive caring attitude.

    --- Demonstrated ability to handle conflict resolution.

    --- Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost judgment and discretion.

    --- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of customers, Company personnel and others. (Presentation skills a must).

    --- Demonstrates Northern Tool + Equipment's 12 Core Competencies.
